Chatting:
To type, press ENTER then begin typing. Press ENTER again to shout the message. (Shouted messages can be read by anyone nearby and are written in white.)
Press ENTER when there is no text entered to exit chat mode, or just click somewhere on the screen.
To whisper to another player use the following format: "@name [message]" So if you wanted to whisper to me in game you would type "@Jaine Hey Jaine." without the quotes.
Pressing SHIFT+SPACE will bring up the last person you whispered to. Doing so repeatedly will scroll through the last few people you whispered to.
Fishing
To fish, buy Fish Traps from the merchants in each town. They cost 40 geon. Do not spend more on them buying them from other players. Once you have a fish trap, find the fishing NPC in town and click on him. A fish trap will be used up each time you do this, but you can get an unlimited number of fish with each one. You can leave this up for extended periods of time.
Healing:
Healing allows you to keep fighting instead of having to rest every two battles. It is also nice to have some healing capabilities in case you get attacked by several aggressive monsters at once.
General Tips:
Highlighting a quest while the map window is open will show you a red dot or arrow indicating the location of the next NPC you need to find.
Typing "/suicide" will cause you to die and respawn at the last city you saved as your save point. Be careful, as this will cause you to lose experience as though you had actually died.
You can only hold 60 slots worth of items in your inventory even though there are many more visible.
You can only sell 20 items at a time in your shop even there are more slots showing and it will let you register more items. Items in excess of 20 will simply not be visible to other players.
Fish while you are not actually playing.
Aggressive monsters will only attack you if they are walking/strolling or plan to start walking.
Eggs and Ancient Animals :
Q: What's the deal with eggs?
A: Eggs allow your character to transform to an ancient animal. They can be gotten as a reward for completing a quest once you reach level 15. Archers should chose the panther to up their agility.
Warriors should chose the tiger to up their strength, and Mages should chose the bird to up their intelligence.
Once you have your egg, equip it by dragging it to your upper right slot in your inventory window. Once equipped, your egg will slowly gain experience just for having your character in game (yes, even when you're fishing and selling). It will also gain a few points every time you kill a monster.
Just having the egg equipped will also give you some stat bonuses. Try equipping and unequipping it while looking at your character window to see which ones. This may only work for eggs that have already gained a bit of exp.
You can actually transform once your egg has reached level 11 and you have at least one slot of your rage bar (that blue bar on the bottom of the screen) filled.
